First Name: Sizwe
Last Name: Saliso

I’m a Pisces, which should explain my passion for the beach, sea-food and swimming. Slyso is a nickname I got from a comedian (“Stuji”) best friend of mine, long before radio hit me like a good song on a summer’s day. I host the second largest breakfast show in South Africa, I’m a closet poet, events company owner, club deejay, artist manager give me a script and I will record it in my home studio after I’ve ripped it apart…yah.. what else do I do kanene?

FAVOURITE MUSIC
I am a jazz baby who found solace in hip hop (since I can’t sing- I’m currently battling with piano). I appreciate good music whatever genre.

FAVOURITE MUSICIAN
Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra, Musiq, Busi Mhlongo, Hugh Masekela, Prokid, (everyone who is creative in presentation and passionate about what they do).

FAVOURITE MOVIE
Each movie that stands out I’ve seen before has had a bit of something for me. Private Ryan (The Sound Production is on point) I appreciated the wittiness of Christopher Mc Quarrie’s writing and Bryan Singer’s direction on “The Usual Suspects). I can go on about my admiration for how creatively twisted Quentin Tarantino was on Pulp Fiction- Ohh.. my favourite biaskop flick is…..

FAVOURITE HANGOUT
Angelo’s Coffee Bar and a spot called the Spotted Cow

THINGS THAT MASS WITH YOUR “MHHHH”
It is people who think money is power, people who think opportunities are going to worm themselves into their hands.

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL WOMAN
Women are an interesting species once you get the microscope out but if she has self-love, confidence, knows what she wants out of life coupled with that African “Badunga” I can negotiate the physicals with the eyes.

FAVOURITE PERSONALITY
Posthumously Bob Marley, 2pac, Brenda Fassie and Lebo Mathosa are the essence of personalities that were just not down with being misinterpreted by media and its consumers at the price of their perception of life, goals and art. Zolani Mkhiva and Rude Boy Paul just give hope to the vital preservation of the (South) African Culture which is the challenge for every so called personality out there eMzantsi and the world.

FIRST CAR
I regard it as my first ride, my parents had this old Opel Kadett that I had the pleasure of using to get around back in the day. It was so old that when my girlfriend (back then) was angry she could pass time to our destination by counting the white lines on the road- that is how old and rusty it was. The love for music was still prevalent ke kodwa because I remember my friends having to hold two 6inch speakers in the backseat while we were listening to abo NWA, LL Cool J, Run DMC Tone Loc.

MEMORABLE MOMENT ON RADIO
A Chinese dude once said “May you live in interesting times” I believe that eMzantsi Africa right now we are writing chapters of a new dawn in our country’s history. Radio is immediate and breaks news all the time, Memorable will be the day I switch my microphone off for good and look back.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THE RADIO/ CAREER
Radio is one of the best inventions ever- instant friendship, entertainment and education at once and anytime. If all that fails, you can just paint a mental picture of how cosmetically challenged the DJ/ Presenter is.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS
I see myself continuing to contribute to the economy and culture of this beautiful country. I see my company 4ward Movement Entertainment creating jobs and opening doors for young people in the arts.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET AND WHY
I believe that we are on this earth for a purpose, I just hope to see all the lives that uQamata would like me to, hopefully influence those lives positively.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME
My life revolves around music, if I’m not our appreciating and encouraging fresh talent (which I feel Piza has a lot of) I’m playing or hosting a gig somewhere in South Africa. I’m currently giving a 110% of whatever little time I have to 4ward Movement Entertainment, family and Charity. It’s amazing how fortunate you and I are. Aids is responsible for 50% of orphans in South Africa, every self-respecting person with a job in South Africa should give at least an hour of their time to people who know no better that the physical, mental and spiritual hunger they are faced with each day eMzantsi.

WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT LIFE
I subliminally learnt from my parents that investing in people ngundoqo. People make the world rounder, that much greener and so much happier. I love life more than anything that you can put before my eyes. It’s uncertain no matter how much you plan, the fact that you have breath and counting seconds is enough a blessing.

FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP
I open my eyes- you thought you had me there neh?
