I’m Zola Kaso-Majiza, but my listeners call me “Makazi” a nickname which I have embraced, as it makes me feel personally connected to my listeners. They feel free to say whatever they feel, and the show is about them, so it is vital that they are free to express themselves. I WOULD DESCRIBE MYSELF AS: A people’s person, I love people. I love meeting new people, sharing ideas with people, it makes me feel good. I live by the slogan ‘umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu’. I HOST: My show is “Quiet Storm’ every Wednesday from 22:00 until 01:00am. It’s a love based programme aimed at anyone and everyone who is a romantic or even a non-romantic willing to listen, share & learn. I feel that lines should be open so they can express themselves and talk about their relationships. This builds a strong relation and trust within a romantic relationship; no one will go on air and announce their love for someone if they are unfaithful; so basically, the show preaches loyalty within romantic relations. I also present a educational programmes form 08:00 till 9:00 on Sundays, after which I host a gospel music show from 09:00 till 10:00. MY FAVOURITE MUSIC: The love ballads of ‘Quiet Storm’, I also enjoy gospel music. MY MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT IN RADIO: I was given the honour of being named the top DJ in the station for two years in succession in the 90’s. I was proud of myself, it meant my potential was recognized and I satisfied the listener’s needs. I AM INPIRED BY: The late Barbara Tsotsobe, and the late Nomzi Tena. They were my mentors. I HATE: Dishonesty, none transparent peoples “Still waters run deep”, and because I’m a people’s person it would be very easy for me to drown. Not being on air. LIFE EXCITES ME BECAUSE: I live with people, I meet people on air and they raise my self-esteem.
